Disability Weekend
AnglersAfloat Team Member Martin Hurst came up with idea of running a Disability Weekend way back in 2008, the idea was to give less abled young adults and their helpers/familes the chance to get out on the water for a paddle in a kayak and for those wanting too, a chance to fish.
In 2009 the first event was launched at Llangorse Lake, the sailing club had also been drafted in to offer a sailing and boating opportunity.
The event was a huge success and had reduced many of us to tears at some point during the day, a very emotional day for all.
In 2012 the event was moved to the Lyn Clywedog, the venue was better suited to disability sailing with the ability for us to get those in wheelchairs afloat in their chairs.
The event has grown every year with the help and support of members of AnglersAfloat, its an event that I've been very privileged to be part of, long may it continue.
