Over the past 2 years the Hobie Revolution 16 has taken the UK Saltwater Kayak Fishing scene by storm. It's now fast becoming the top competition kayak as peddled by many of the top anglers on the tournament circuit, getting these anglers to the marks ahead of the competition and getting them back in first when the race back to shore is on.
AnglersAfloat tested one some years ago when it was called the Hobie Adventure16 , with the old style Mirage Drive and standard fins it wasn't particularly fast in fact most of those in standard paddle craft were quicker than us.
Second time around with a 2017 Hobie Revolution 16 with Mirage 180 Drive complete with Turbo fins, it takes an exceptional paddler to keep up. Add to this the comfort of the Hobie Vantage seat, there is nothing else like it.
Enough about that. This project is my saltwater tournament kayak, she will be used mostly for bait fishing, but I also hope to do some lure fishing from her as well. She has already competed in a couple of saltwater comps where I have been very happy with the set up, only adjusting the rod holder height a little which is accounted for in the project write up. She has also been used in two freshwater kayak comps by friends, coming second in the London International piloted by Lars and a top ten finish at the Pitsford Grandslam piloted by Mike Edgar.
All the products used in this project except for the forward rod rest are available from the Hobie Centre in Poole, buy a Hobie Revolution 16 from them and they could even fit the accessories for you if you don't fancy drilling any holes yourself.
